Christmas, encounters, and new developments at the children’s home – April 2024

Christmas, Encounters, and New Developments at the Children’s Home

A Special Christmas in 2023

Once again, all the children and staff were able to experience an unforgettable Christmas at Petra’s Guest Farm. They played, laughed and celebrated together. The children took part in a lovingly staged Christmas performance and each of them received a gift and a warm meal. The children’s joy, excitement, and emotional moments made Christmas Eve an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Guests bring variety and joy

TThe children’s home regularly receives visits from interested guests. In a welcome round, the children share their wishes for the future and their current school status. Proudly, they show their home, introducing each bed and every individual closet. The guests are bombarded with question and afterwards everyone plays soccer or volleyball together.

A special highlight: Renate and Peter gave the children a “walk” to see the giraffes and a day at the swimming pool. The children were thrilled – Petra will now organize the whole event.

Current developments at the children’s home

News from everyday life:

  • All the children are doing well.
  • With Petra’s support, Anne and Lucy handle the usual disputes in the community very well.

  • Petra plans to commission a new entrance gate.

Changes and personal developments

At the general meeting of the Kenyan Community Based Organization (CBO), Njoki Wanjiku was elected as the new chairperson. Heartfelt thanks to Christopher for his unwavering commitment over the years!

There is also news about the children:

  • One child is now attending a new boarding school after the previous one was closed. His academic performance remains very satisfactory.
  • If necessary, the home mother is supported by a psychologist for problems or educational questions. Ann takes good care of all the children.
  • One boy plays handball with great success in a school district league – and clearly enjoys it!
