Christmas, Connections, and New Developments at the Children’s Home – April 2024

Christmas, Encounters, and New Developments at the Children’s Home

A Special Christmas 2023

Once again, all the children and staff were able to experience an unforgettable Christmas at Petra’s Guest Farm. They played, laughed, and celebrated together. The children took part in a lovingly prepared Christmas performance, and each of them received a gift as well as a warm meal. The joy, excitement, and emotional moments of the children made Christmas Eve an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Guests bring variety and joy

The children’s home regularly receives visits from interested guests. In a welcoming circle, the children share their future aspirations and their current school progress. Proudly, they show their home, introducing each bed and every individual cabinet. The guests are bombarded with questions, and afterwards, football or volleyball is played together.

A special highlight: Renate and Peter gifted the children a “walk” to see the giraffes and a day at the swimming pool. The children were thrilled – Petra will now organize the whole event.

Current developments at the children’s home

News from everyday life:

  • All children are doing well.
  • Anne and Lucy, with Petra’s support, are handling the usual conflicts within the community very well.
  • Children caused some damage on the premises. After intensive discussions, they agreed to contribute to the repair costs through holiday jobs.
  • Petra is planning to commission a new entrance gate.

Changes and personal developments

During the general assembly of the Kenyan Community Based Organization (CBO), Njoki Wanjiku was elected as the new chairperson. A heartfelt thanks goes to Christopher for his long-standing dedication!

There is news among the children as well:

  • One child is now attending a new boarding school after the previous one was closed. Their academic performance remains very satisfactory.
  • If needed, the Home Mother is supported by a psychologist in cases of problems or educational issues. Ann attentively takes care of all the children.
  • One boy plays handball with great success in a school district league – and clearly enjoys it!
