PAMOJA –
together for Kenya’s children e.V.

“We must be the change we wish to see in the world.”

Dalai Lama

This is a mission for us, and that is why the following also applies to us:

“Do something good wherever you are. It is all the little things together that change the world.”

Desmond Tutu

We make change a reality – in Kenya, at the Pamoja Machiuka children’s home.

Here, children who have little chance of a protected upbringing and education are welcomed. They find a place where they can live securely and receive food, healthcare, and care.

We support them until they finish school, can provide for themselves, and have found a place to live. This also includes assistance in finding a job, vocational training, or higher education.

These are the conditions needed for them to develop their personality and become full members of Kenyan society – in peace, community, and acceptance, in harmony with their tradition, culture, and Kenyan values.

Our vision is that these children will become important building blocks for a self-reliant, confident, and independent Kenya.

With our association, in which everyone works voluntarily, we aim to provide the children’s home with a permanent financial foundation to take in and care for children. We collect donations for this purpose. We are committed to it. And we appreciate any help. Every donation makes it possible for Pamoja to nurture, protect, and send children into a life full of opportunities.

The name “Pamoja Machiuka” means “Rising Together” – and we can only do this with your help!

Reports from Kenya
current news

To keep you well informed about what is happening at our children’s home and how the children are doing, we have created a dedicated section on our new website. Here you will find reports from Gitti Apholt when she is or has been in Kenya, as well as news about the children, new admissions, school and training paths, information on the status of the association’s development concept, and current photos.

In recent years, we have always sent this information as a newsletter to our members and sponsors. From now on, you will be informed by email and can then access our homepage via a link – and view everything there at your leisure.

Pamoja – non-profit association
together for Kenya’s children

In 1995, Petra Allmendinger launched the “children’s home” project in Kenya. When the then director of the home reached retirement age, a relocation became necessary. Therefore, the association had a new children’s home built at another location.

The new home, “Pamoja Machiuka” (Rising Together), is now completed – and the children have moved into their new home.
